A series of photos taken by photographer Eward Allen during the "Clean Oil? panels with authors Satya Das and Ezra Levant.

Satya penned the title, "Green Oil: Clean Energy for the 21st Century?" which states that Canada can use the energy wealth of the oilsands to build a clean energy future.

Ezra's title "Ethical Oil" argues that Canada's oilsands are the world's best energy option due to our democratic nature.

Thank you to Eward Allen for taking these great photos and allowing us to share them with you. You can see the full set on Flickr.

Satya in Globe and Mail: Why the OECD Tore a Strip off Alberta

Jeffrey Simpson has written a comprehensive piece on the perspective of the OECD on the failures of Alberta's leadership to environmentally and fiscally manage the oilsands.

"The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development in Paris, however, can't be so easily dismissed. In diplomatic language, the organization tore a strip off Alberta for its short-sightedness in energy policy. In contrast to Norway and Chile, the OECD found that Alberta isn't building up a fund from oil and gas revenues to be used for the benefit of future generations.

There are Albertans such as Satya Das and Peter Silverstone who've written intelligent books proposing other tax and royalty policies to "green" the oil/tar sands. Inside the industry, those who think something should be done about emissions want a serious carbon tax. Predictably, the politicians aren't listening; they're dug into policies that look good on the surface but are certain to expensively fail."
